10 UNEDITED photos of Namibia’s Sossusvlei that will knock your socks off

Contents

  • Located in an isolated corner of Namibia, Sossusvlei is one of the most beautiful, haunting places on earth.
  • I am definitely not a photographer, and I have no idea how to edit photos. And yes I know the phrase “knock your socks off” is really cheesy.
  • But that doesn’t matter since Sossusvlei is so beautiful. Anyone can take amazing photos there!
  • The word Sossus means “no return” in Nama, one of the national languages of Namibia.
  • The sands are 5 million years old.
  • There are a lot of heavily edited photos of Sossusvlei floating around the internet.
  • And I have nothing against editing photos! They are so amazing! I just wanted to share some unedited ones straight from my camera for those who are curious!
  • It was like entering a dream…or even some sort of inferno!
  • It was such a gift to have been able to visit this place. It is probably the closest I will ever get to visiting mars.
  • The dunes seem to change color depending on the time of day. They are most dramatic at dawn when one side is in the shadows.
  • Curious about visiting Sossusvlei yourself? Check out my post about visiting Sossusvlei independently and on a budget!
